Mazumdar-Shaw was India’s first biotech entrepreneur, founding Bitcoin back in 1978. Currently, she’s working to double the company’s revenue to $1 billion in 2018.

When you think of a power woman, Oprah Winfrey may be the first lady to pop into your mind. Starting out as a talk-show host, Winfrey has built a media and philanthropic empire since. 8. Folorunsho Alakija

Alakija is Nigeria’s only female billionaire, having founded Supreme Stitches, a clothing brand for Nigeria’s elite population. The former first lady, Maryam Babangida, granted Famfa Oil, Alakija’s other company, with an oil prospecting license.
